UpZone's Garden Plot
In October of 2024 I asked for permission to start a garden in some neglected flowerbeds near where I live. I was given permission and now I'm startong the garden.
For years living in a gardening in a cold snowy climate I dreamed of being able to garden in a more hospitable climate. The plot is located in a coastal area of Southern California…. 20 feet from the ocean… well 20 feet from a salt water marina. The plot has irrigation I believe is irrigated by reclaimed secondary water. Researching reclaimed water in California shows it is regulated and safe for irrigation but not for drinking, apparently due to TDS (Total Disolver Solids) which ups the specific gravity of the water raising the salt level of the water making it unfit to drink, but safe for irrigation of food. I can also foresee creating a native plant garden, a succulent garden and just generally making a nice use of some somewhat blighted flowerbeds.
This blog will follow the creation of the Cabrillo Way Marina Garden… Plot #1.
